Kitty Shark Beanie Crochet Pattern

We have a wonderful Animal Shelter/Sanctuary here in our small town of Fallbrook and the poor black kittens are the
last to get adopted. I though why not have them stand out with a cute hat


Size: Kitten Approx. 10” around and 6” High

Materials:
* Size G 4.0 mm or H 5.0 mm hooks – This will determine the size of the hat. If you use G it will be a bit smaller.
         * Note: I used G on the shark hat shown, but H on all the others
* 3.5 mm Hook for Eyes & Pupil
* Tapestry Needle
* Worsted Weight Gray
* Worsted Weight White
* Worsted Weight Black

Abbreviations:
MC = Magic Circle
ST= Stitch
SC= Single Crochet
HDC = Half Double Crochet
DC = Double Crochet
Sc2tog = Single Crochet 2 together
Hdc2Tog = Half Double crochet 2 together
DC2Tog = Double Crochet 2 Together

Hat Patter: Using Gray
Make 10 SC in MC
Round 2: *Make 2 SC in 1st st, Sc in next st*, repeat around, sl st, Ch 1
Round 3: *Make 2 SC in 1st st, Sc in next 2 sts*, repeat around, sl st, Ch 1
Round 4: *Make 2 SC in 1st st, Sc in next 3 sts*, repeat around, sl st, Ch 1
Round 5: *Make 2 SC in 1st st, Sc in next 4 sts*, repeat around, sl st, Ch 1
Round 6: *Make 2 SC in 1st st, Sc in next 5 sts*, repeat around, sl st, Ch 1
Round 7-12: Make a SC in all stitches around, sl st, Ch 1
Don’t fasten off you can add earflaps if wanted, if not, then you can fasten off and weave in ends

First Earflap:
Row 1: SC in next 6 sts, ch 1, turn
Row 2: Sc2tog, Sc in the next 2 sts, Sc2tog, ch 1, turn
Row 3: Sc across, ch 1, turn
Row 4: Sc2tog, Sc2tog, ch 1, turn
Row 5: Sc2tog, Chain 25
Tie off

Second Earflap: Align your earflaps, so there is a little bit more space in the front of the hat
Row 1: Attach yarn and SC in next 6 sts, ch 1, turn
Row 2: Sc2tog, Sc in the next 2 sts, Sc2tog, ch 1, turn
Row 3: Sc across, ch 1, turn
Row 4: Sc2tog, Sc2tog, ch 1, turn
Row 5: Sc2tog, Chain 25
Tie off

Fin: Using Gray
Make 4 Sc in a MC
Round 2: Make 2 Sc in 1st st, Sc in the next st, Ch 1
Round 3: *Make 2 SC in 1st st, Sc in next 2 sts*, repeat around, sl st, Ch 1
Round 4: *Make 2 SC in 1st st, Sc in next 3 sts*, repeat around, sl st, Ch 1
Round 5: *Make 2 SC in 1st st, Sc in next 4 sts*, repeat around, sl st, Ch 1
Round 6: *Make 2 SC in 1st st, Sc in next 5 sts*, repeat around, sl st, Ch 1
Round 7: *Make 2 SC in 1st st, Sc in next 6 sts*, repeat around, sl st, Ch 1
Tie off and leave a long tail to sew onto hat

Eyes: Using 3.5 mm Hook – Using White
Mae 10 HDC in Magic Circle
Tie off and weave in ends


Pupil: Using 3.5 mm Hook – Using Black (I hot glued the pupil to the eye and then the eye to the hat)
Mae 4 Sc in Magic Circle
Tie off & weave in ends


Teeth: Using White
Attach yarn to the front of hat by first ear flap and Chain 4
Sl st in 1st ch, Sc in next ch, Hdc in last chain, Skip a stitch on the hat, chain 4 in next stitch and repeat across.
Tie off and weave in ends
